Howard Yasgar releases 'Finding Columbus's Gold: A Grand Adventure on the Island of Hispaniola'

MIAMI, Aug. 10, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Howard Yasgar was a young man who was asked to travel to Haiti to assist in disassembling a defunct railroad. While he was there, it led him to learn what he believes is the true story of Christopher Columbus and his missing gold. Now, he shares his incredible adventure in "Finding Columbus's Gold: A Grand Adventure on the Island of Hispaniola" (published by Archway Publishing) to correct history and to show that historians have been wrong about Columbus.

In 1966, an old friend invites Matt Vercair to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to assist in disassembling and selling a now defunct Haitian railroad, acquired under unusual circumstances. Once in Haiti, he is introduced to chief archeologist Dr. Marc Blanchet, an expert on Christopher Columbus and everything he did on the island of Hispaniola.

According to Marc, the history being taught about Columbus is a fraud. Instead of exploration, Columbus' true intentions were to amass gold and sell as many slaves as he could to finance his travels. Marc knows where a large cache of Columbus' gold has been hidden in Haiti for 500 years.

With the help of a secret map, Matt and his friend Mike embark on an incredible journey to recover the Columbus gold, traveling into little known terrain. The railroad becomes of little concern as they search for the hidden treasure, but it is possible Matt is about to find a lot more than riches in the dangerous wilds of Hispaniola.

"This book will appeal to readers because it is a fantastic adventure story and changes history as it tells the true story of what Christopher Columbus actually did, not what historians say he did," Yasgar points out. When asked what he wants readers to take away from the book, he answers, "For them to realize how history has been falsely portrayed over the years."
