New agentic AI capabilities are designed to double colleague productivity in select mortgage processes, giving teams more time to focus on clients

TORONTO, Oct. 13, 2026 /CNW/ -- TD Bank Group (TD) today announced two new agentic AI capabilities for Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL), expanding the use of AI across the mortgage lifecycle.

In mortgage funding and discharge, the capabilities coordinate multi-step document verification, connect information across systems, and generate outputs for colleague review.

By automating time-intensive tasks, the technology allows colleagues to concentrate on the expertise, judgment and human connection that matter most to clients.

The move builds on TD's May 2026 launch of agentic AI for mortgage pre-adjudication, which reduced average processing time from 15 hours to less than three minutes.

Key takeaways:

  • TD is expanding agentic AI across the mortgage lifecycle, from pre-adjudication to parts of mortgage funding and discharge.
  • The capabilities coordinate document verification, connect information across systems and flag potential discrepancies.
  • Colleagues review AI-generated outputs and remain responsible for decisions requiring human expertise and judgment.

"We're focused on using agentic AI where it can make the biggest difference for our teams and clients," said Mohit Veoli, Senior Vice President, Real Estate Secured Lending at TD. "By simplifying repetitive parts of the mortgage journey, AI can make everyday work easier and reduce friction for clients. Our colleagues remain at the centre, using the technology to augment their expertise and deliver an even better experience."

Taking friction out of mortgage funding and discharge

For mortgage funding, the capability brings essential client and property details into a concise case summary, enabling colleagues to complete the initial review in up to half the time.

For mortgage discharges, the capability assembles the information needed to prepare a discharge statement, with colleagues checking the final output before it is issued.

"AI is becoming an increasingly important part of how we innovate and work," said Maks Volkovs, Senior Vice President and Chief AI Scientist, Layer 6 AI at TD. "Home lending is a powerful example, evolving from a single agentic AI use case to a portfolio of capabilities that work alongside colleagues and give them more time for clients and complex decisions."

Frequently Asked Questions
